Football
Our Vision
At Sherrills Ford Optimist Football, our vision is to build more than athletes -- WE BUILD PEOPLE, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITY. We are committed to creating a safe, education-based football environment where student athletes are taught the game with integrity, cared, and purpose and where coaches, parents, siblings, and supporters feel equally valued and connected. Football here is not just a sport - it's a shared experience where relationships are formed, confidence is built, and lifelong lessons take root.
While we believe in competing with passion and pride, winning not our only measure of success. Our program exists to instill the values of teamwork, togetherness, accountability, and continuous learning. Through supportive coaching and strong community engagement, we strive to develop athletes who grow together - on and off the field - and who carry drive, heart, discipline, and dedication into every locker room, classroom, and field they step onto. By working together, we create an environment where football becomes family, and where each athlete is empowered to positively impact every space they are a part of.

Important 2026 Dates
First Practice
The first official practice will be Saturday, July 18. Please be sure to watch for updates and announcements via the SFO website, our official Facebook page, and email. The first official practice may change due to field availability, weather, and league rules. Communications will be sent with further details closer to the start of practices.
Voluntary Workouts
Voluntary workouts will begin on March 21st, and players will also have the opportunity to participate in a Bandys High School Football Camp later in July.
Please note that all players are required to complete a conditioning phase consisting of two weeks or six practices. During this phase, football equipment will be gradually introduced. If your child is unable to attend practices during the conditioning phase, they will be required to complete one full week of conditioning before returning to regular practice.
